Get to know us

New Beginnings Counseling was founded with a simple belief:

You should not have to choose between being strong and being supported.

We see, over and over, how women, mothers, women of color, and high-achieving professionals are praised for their strength while their pain, trauma, and exhaustion go unnoticed.

NBC was created to be the opposite of that.

Here, your grief, your anger, your numbness, your fatigue—are all welcome.
You don’t have to make yourself smaller, softer, or more “palatable” to be taken seriously.
You get to tell the truth about how heavy things have been and what you actually need.

Who We Serve

We specialize in working with:

  • Women of color, especially Black women, who are experiencing:

    • Anxiety, depression, and burnout

    • Workplace stress and identity-based trauma

    • Childhood or relational trauma that keeps echoing in adult life

  • Professionals in high-stress fields (healthcare, education, caregiving, leadership roles)

  • Parents and caregivers juggling careers, children, and their own healing

  • Couples navigating conflict, disconnection, betrayal, or life transitions

We also support teens, adults, and couples of all genders and backgrounds who want a therapist who is direct, compassionate, and culturally aware.

Our Approach to Therapy

Therapy with us is:

  • Culturally Responsive
We honor the impact of culture, race, history, and systems on your mental health. You won’t be asked to ignore your identity to fit a diagnosis.

  • Trauma-Informed
We recognize how trauma lives in the body, affects relationships, and shapes how safe you feel in the world. We move at a pace that respects your nervous system—not just your calendar.

  • Collaborative
You bring your story, lived experience, and intuition. We bring clinical training, tools, and a safe container. Together, we create a plan that fits your actual life.

  • Focused on Real Life Change
Our sessions aren’t just about venting (though you can definitely vent). We’ll connect your history, your patterns, and your values to concrete next steps and sustainable change.

Services We Offer

  • Individual Therapy
For adults and teens working through anxiety, depression, trauma, life transitions, identity, and more.

  • Couples & Relationship Counseling
For partners who want to repair trust, learn to communicate without attacking or shutting down, and rebuild intimacy.

  • EMDR & Brainspotting
For clients ready to process trauma, stuck memories, and body-based responses that don’t respond to talk therapy alone. Intensives are available for deeper, focused work.

Investment in Your Well-Being

We believe therapy is an investment in you, your relationships, and your future—not just another bill.

Private Pay
Many clients choose private pay because it offers:

  • Greater privacy and control over your records

  • Freedom to focus on your goals rather than insurance limits

  • Access to specialized treatments such as EMDR intensives

Insurance
We accept in-network insurance from (adjust based on what’s accurate right now):

  • Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS)

  • United Healthcare

  • Aetna

  • Cigna

If we are not in-network with your plan, you may still be able to use your out-of-network benefits. We can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement.

Accessible Care Options
We reserve a limited number of:

  • Pay What You Can slots

  • Sliding scale options

  • Scholarship-supported sessions (including via partner foundations when available)

If finances are a barrier, we will talk through options with you during your consultation and help you make a plan.

Our committment

We are committed to:

  • Providing a nonjudgmental, affirming space for all clients

  • Naming and addressing the ways racism, sexism, ableism, and other systems show up in mental health

  • Practicing ethically, clinically sound, evidence-based therapy

  • Supporting your growth at your pace—not rushing your healing to fit someone else’s timeline

If you’ve been wondering whether therapy could actually help—or whether you’re “too much” or “not bad enough” for therapy—this is your invitation.

You are allowed to be cared for, too.

Our vision

We want to live in a world where people can buy homes that match their needs rather than having to find a compromise and settle on the second-best option. That's why we take a lot of time and care in getting to know our clients from the moment they reach out to us and ask for our help.

Our team

Our strength lies in our individuality. Set up by Esther Bryce, the team strives to bring in the best talent in various fields, from architecture to interior design and sales.
